Since 1661 the Gueth Family has been closely linked to the wine-growing. 14 generations of wine-makers have ensured the authenticity of our products. Our vineyards are based on hills facing south- west on sandy granite soil for the "Felsen" wines and clay-granite for the "Val Saint- Grégoire" slopes. These compositions allows us to be successful in all vine-varieties of Alsace as well as for "Crémant"sparkling wine. Our many successes in "Vendanges tardives" and "Sélection de grains nobles" bear witness to this. The cellar, hewn in "Felsen" granite is a guarantee for the excellent elaboration of our products. A welcoming reception, with free wine-tasting, enables an easy distribution of our wines. We are located along the road, in the heart of vineyards, between the touristic centers Munster and Turckheim. We wish you a hearty welcome.
Our garden, behind the building, is a vineyard. It is a haven of peace on the slope of the valley, in Walbach. Far from the noisy universe of globalised wine, Edgar Gueth cultivates his vines, proclaims their excellence, thinks of nothing else, and has come to be one with them. "A winegrower of the FELSEN", Edgar Gueth, for whom this rock is center of the world, is one of the few Munster valley winegrowers to still produce all his grapes, to make his wine and sell it bottled in his wine-cellar, hewn in the Felsen rock. In his reasoned winemaking, grape harvesting is done by hand in wooden crates to avoid excessive compacting. Grapes are poured straight into the pneumatic press to avoid trituration. The must then flows by gravity into settling tanks. The advantage of this method is to limit machine intervention in order to develop the essential nature of the grapes. The "Felsen": this exceptional site is favoured by remarkable sunshine due to its south- south west orientation. It reaches to an altitude of 350 metres and lies on sandy soil with granite subsoil and has a steep slope. This excellent orientation is particularly favourable for " Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurtztraminer" vine varieties. With their great finesse and subtility, their special fruitiness, the Felsen wines offer a somptuous balance of tastes. "Val Saint Grégoire": it is a wine area close to"Felsen", turned south-south east, softer sloped, with granite and clay granite soil. This area is successful for all varieties from Alsace ( in particular the "Pinot" varieties). Somewhat stronger and remarkably fruity, the "Val Saint-Grégoire wines are ideally balanced.
